A bit of travel, catching up with friends and other things

Travelling to Ahmedabad to attend a friend’s wedding was the highlight of the last few weeks. The wedding was festive, with lots of high energy dancing and celebrations. Practicing and performing together as a group to perform on stage for the Sangeet was definitely something I’m not going to forget for a long time.

It was great to catch up with a lot of old friends I hadn’t met in a while. The way it’s going currently, weddings are the only way for all of us to catch up and meet in one place.

Before travelling to Ahmedabad, I was on a family trip to Vijayawada via road from Hyderabad. At Vijayawada, we visited the Kanaka Durga Temple, Temple at Mangalgiri and Undavalli Caves.

During our road trip, we stopped along the way at Food Seven – NH65 near Suryapet. It was a bit of a shock, almost like a mall in the middle of the highway. The coffee with it’s extra foam was worth a picture.

Other updates:

  • Graphics: After spending time learning about ray tracing, spending some time with OpenGL. Implementing the Ray Tracer has made understanding the math behind OpenGL a bit easier. Rendering a cube from scratch took some time in the RayTracer, but with OpenGL it was much easier – though there was a learning curve behind understanding GLSL, Vertex Buffers and Vertex Attribute Objects. Here’s the github project, and a gif of a rotating cube.
It ain’t much, but it’s honest work…
  • Art: Continuing with my figure sketching practice. Was getting lost in all that gesture practice, so decided to keep it simple and draw simple stick figures. It could be a lot better, but then again it could be a lot worse also.

It’s been 3 weeks since the last update, and it’s getting tiring repeating that I hope to follow a weekly cadence. Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. As long as it’s in the back of my mind that I need to update the blog every Monday and I follow through on that, it should be fine I guess.
